Saturday 4th February 15:00 GMT

The Cardiff Blues bring the curtain down on their Anglo Welsh Cup campaign on Saturday at The Arms Park, when they play host to the Worcester Warriors of the Aviva Premiership. The Blues have had a woeful tournament, losing all three of their fixtures to date, and whatever the outcome of Saturday'sfixture, they will not be progressing to the semi-finals. Only Newcastle Falcons have scored fewer points than the Blues over the course of the three qualifying rounds that have been completed to date, while no other side in any of the four pools has conceded as many points as the Cardiff based outfit.

After being hammered 25-60 at the Exeter Chiefs in Round 1, the Blues were then beaten in a Welsh derby on home soil 7-31, before suffering another thrashing at Sale Sharks last weekend 3-41. The Worcester Warriors are bottom of Pool 2 with six points, but are not completely out of the running for a semi-final spot. However, to progress through to the knockout stage of the tournament, they will need a bonus point victory at the Blues, and for the other three sides in the group to lose. Exeter and the Ospreys top the pool with 10 points, while the Sharks are just a point behind the leaders.

Worcester Warriors are firmly ensconced at the bottom of the Anglo Welsh Cup table, without a win to their name this season, with just two losing bonus points having been secured this season, so will look on Friday night's LV= Cup match against the Cardiff Blues as an opportunity to gain some much needed confidence with a good performance, and positive result. If they are to secure a victory, they will do so with the help of the former Leicester Tigers and Bath Rugby utility back, Sam Vesty, who joined the Sixways coaching staff in the summer, and is in charge of the Warriors young Academy players.

Vesty will be hoping that his young charges will impress the Worcester Warriors director of rugby Dean Ryan, while at the same time, helping to put an end to the Warriors' woeful early-season run. Vesty has emphasized the need to get some momentum going, from securing a win against the Blues, and is confident that the young players coming into the side will bring an enthusiasm to the team that will spread across the more senior members of the Warriors squad. Blues will be fielding their own crop of talented youngsters, including Wales Under-20 captain Ellis Jenkins, who lost to England U20's in this summer's Six Nations finale and IRB Junior World Championship final, and will be keen to make an impression at senior level, as well as gaining some measure of revenge over the English for his previous disappointments.
