Harlequins who are battling for a top six finish in the Aviva Premiership, face Leicester Tigers at the Stoop in London on Friday Evening. The visitors themselves are in need of victory, but for them a win is vital to their hopes of claiming a top four finish at the end of the regular season, and a place in the post-season play-offs. After 15 rounds of competition, Harlequins are one of only two clubs left in the tournament with 100% winning records on home soil. However, they have been beaten in their last two fixtures at the venue in other competitions, by Edinburgh in the Challenge Cup and the Sale Sharks in the Anglo-Welsh Cup.

In the Premiership, Harlequins have won eight and lost seven of their fixtures, and have 37 points, placing them in sixth position. After three successive defeats, which had seen the Tigers start to lose touch with the top four, they have bounced back with successive home wins at Welford Road against Gloucester and Bristol, and now have 43 points, which places them just four adrift of Bath, the club who currently occupy the vital fourth position. If the Tigers are to claim a third straight win, they will need to register their first success on the road since they beat struggling Bristol at Ashton gate, back in November.

Harlequins and Leicester Tigers, who open Round 13 of the competition on Friday night at the Twickenham Stoop, are two such clubs. Prior to the start of the 6-Nations, they occupied third and fourth positions in the table and although some way behind the leading clubs, Saracens and the Exeter Chiefs, they had a significant gap between themselves and the chasing teams. However, Quins have been beaten at home by the Northampton Saints and away at Gloucester in the past fortnight, part of a run of four consecutive defeats in all tournaments, and they have slipped to fifth position in the table. The Tigers likewise have lost their last two Premiership fixtures, at home to the Sale Sharks and away to the Newcastle Falcons, The Tigers have managed to cling onto third position, but are now one of the clubs, from third to eighth, that are separated by a mere five points. When the clubs met in Round 2 at Welford Road, the Tigers squeezed a 22-19 victory. A win on Friday would give them a first season's double against the Londoners since 2010/11,

Harlequins are in need of a victory on Saturday at the Stoop, when their visitors are the Leicester Tigers, to keep them in touch with the top four positions in the Aviva Premiership table, and maintain their hopes of a post season play-off. Currently in eighth position in the table, Harlequins are six points adrift of fourth placed Wasps, who face a tricky trip down at the Rec in bath. They will need to improve on their recent form, which has seen them win just two of their last five Premiership fixtures, against two of the bottom three clubs in the table, Newcastle Falcons and winless London Welsh. The Leicester Tigers won the match between the clubs earlier in the season, recording a 22-16 win at Welford Road, and a win on Saturday in London will give them their first season's double against the Quins since 2010-11.

Quins have been in good form on their own soil however, and have lost just once in their last seven games at the venue of Saturday's contest, and have beaten the Tigers on the last three occasions that they have been the visitors. That home form will be pitted against the form of a club that has secured 21 points from their last six Premiership fixtures. A tally only bettered by the top two in the table, Bath and Northampton Saints.

Victory at Twickenham Stoop on Friday is vital for both participating clubs, for slightly varying reasons, though for both sides the ultimate goal is to win the Aviva Premiership at Twickenham in May. Hosts Harlequins, are currently in fifth position, which is one place outside the post season play off spots, and are five points behind Bath, who are the one side that they can overhaul to maintain their challenge for the big prize.

Leicester Tigers meanwhile, are on a run of results that has seen them climb the Premiership table rapidly and consistently over the past three months, and they are in pursuit of second place Northampton Saints. The top two sides in the table at the end of the regular season, earning home matches in the play-off semi-finals. Harlequins appeared to have slipped out of contention, but three wins from their last four Aviva matches has catapulted them back into contention, and if they can make it eight home wins on the trot in the competition on Friday, they will certainly apply immense pressure onto their rivals Bath. Tigers, however, are the form side in the tournament, being unbeaten in their last nine Premiership matches, and a win will secure their play-off position for the tenth successive season.
