Neither Harlequins nor the Northampton Saints who clash at the Stoop on Saturday, have been able to produce any sort of consistency in the Aviva Premiership this season. Both clubs have managed two wins and three defeats in the current campaign, with both of Quins victories coming in home fixtures. A narrow 21-19 win at Twickenham against Bristol, and a stunning 17-10 success at the Stoop against the previously unbeaten reigning Champions, Saracens. The only time that Quins have been beaten at the Stoop in their last five matches in all tournaments at the venue, was a 24-62 thrashing at the hands of the Exeter Chiefs in the final Premiership fixture of last season.

Despite last weekends shock 19-26 defeat at Kingston Park Stadium against the Newcastle Falcons, which saw them drop a position in the Aviva Premiership table, Harlequins still occupy fourth position and have an eight point buffer over the side leading the chase, Wasps. On Saturday, Quins will host the Northampton Saints at the Stoop, looking not only to get back to winning ways, but also to avoid successive defeats in the tournament for the first time since the end of last season. Both clubs will be heavily affected by international calls, with the 6-Nations tournament starting this Saturday, but Quins will be defending an unbeaten record this season in all tournaments, against sixth placed Saints. The Saints have managed just a solitary win in the last four Aviva Premiership games that they have played. An 8-3 home win against second placed Exeter Chiefs.

The ground where they won their first ever Premiership title last May, in an extra time thriller against Saracens, and where they had previously won their first, and to date only, European Champions Cup, beating Munster 9-8. Harlequins certainly seem to enjoy the palatial surroundings of the Stadium that is just across the road from their own Stoop ground, having won their last six fixtures at the ground. Saturday will see the seventh staging of what is title the "Big Game", a festive Premiership fixture at Twickenham Stadium, in front of a crowd of likely to be in the region of 70,000. Quins have a fine record in the fixture, having won four of the six previously staged, against Wasps in 2009 and Saracens in 2011.
