Leicester Tigers entertain Gloucester on Saturday afternoon at Welford Road Stadium in Round 14 of the Aviva Premiership. After three successive defeats in the competition, the Leicester Tigers find themselves floundering in the unusually lowly position of seventh in the table. If the Tigers slip to a fourth straight defeat on Saturday, it will the first time that they have suffered such a poor run of results in the Premiership since 2003. Beaten in their last home fixture in the competition by Saracens 12-16 on New Year's Day, Tigers will be seeking to avoid back to back losses at Welford Road in the Premiership for the first time since October 2011.

Gloucester are two places and three points behind their hosts on Saturday, but have a poor away record in the tournament this season, with just a solitary victory to their name, which came at the Sale Sharks in Round 3. If they can cause an upset and collect a second win on the road, Gloucester Rugby will be recording their first success at Welford Road since they were victorious by 30-17 in early October 2007. Gloucester's only win at any venue against the Tigers in the last eight attempts was at Kingsholm in October 2014, when they triumphed by 33-16.

Leicester Tigers will be hoping to extend their fine run of form at Welford Road, where they have suffered just a solitary loss in the last 18 Aviva Premiership fixtures that they have played at the venue, when Gloucester are the visitors to the venueon Saturday. With just four rounds of regular season fixtures left to play, the Leicester Tigers look as if they are in a head to head battle with their great local rivals, Northampton Saints for the fourth play-off spot. Although Harlequins may have something to say about that. Saints currently have a one point advantage over the Tigers, but face a tough task on Sunday, when they travel to the Ricoh Arena in Coventry, to face the tournament's most in form club, Wasps.

The Cherry and Whites of Gloucester Rugby have fallen to three successive losses in the Premiership, and have slipped well off of the pace in the chase for a place in the knockout stage. They will have their eyes on Harlequins who are in sixth, five points ahead of the West Country club, as sixth place will secure a Champions Cup place next season. Gloucester's last win at Welford Road Stadium came way back in October 2007, and it would be a surprise if they bring that run to an end on Saturday, given the Tigers home form, and Gloucester's away results. They have recorded just one win on the road since Round 1, against Bath in early February.

Despite something of a rollercoaster season, Leicester Tigers still find themselves very much in the mix up for a post season play-off spot in the Aviva Premiership, currently sitting just two points behind fourth placed Wasps after 13 rounds of fixtures. On Friday night they face Gloucester at their Welford Road Stadium home , defending an unbeaten run at the venue that stretches back to late September, when they slipped to defeat to London Irish 19-22 in the Premiership. When the clubs met earlier in the season, the Cherry and Whites of Gloucester recorded a convincing 33-15 victory at Kingsholm. Victory on Friday night in the East Midlands would see the West Country outfit complete their first season double over the Leicester Tigers since 2003/04. To do however, they will need to end a run of seven successive losses at the venue in all competitions, their last success at Welford Road being in October 2007, when they recorded a 30-17 Premiership win.

Although in a lowly ninth position in the table, Gloucester Rugby have won all six games that they have played in 2015, as they have progressed to the Challenge Cup quarter-finals, and just missed out on an Anglo-Welsh semi-final place. With the 6-Nations Championship continuing this weekend, Friday night will see the squad strength of both clubs challenged, as they will both have to do without a number of key players away on international duty.

Leicester Tigers have had a difficult season, having to cope with injuries, and international demands on their squad, both in the Autumn, and now during the Aviva Premiership championship. However, despite just squeezing past the Premiership's basement side, Worcester Warriors, last weekend at Sideways, by 23-22, the Tigers are on the verge of the end of season play-offs. The win at Worcester, saw them draw level with fourth place Harlequins, and they now trail them, purely on the number of games that each side has won, The only defeat that the Leicester Tigers have suffered in their last six Premiership matches, came at the then league leaders, Saracens, when they were thumped by 40 points at Allianz Park, and they have lost just once at the Welford Road home since 23 February last year, when Harlequins overcame them by 23-16 in November, though they have drawn twice at home during that period, against Northampton and Bath.

The Cherry and Whites of Gloucester Rugby have managed just a single win against the Tigers in all tournaments from the last seven clashes between the clubs, a 27-21 success at Kingsholm in the Premiership in October 2007.
