Leicester Tigers against London Irish at Welford Road on Sunday, in the Aviva Premiership, looks a nailed on home victory, with the Tigers riding high in fifth position in the table, while the visitors are languishing at the foot of the table. However, the Tigers are on a slump in form at the moment, that has seen them slip to three successive losses in the Premiership, two of which were on the road, at Harlequins and Newcastle Falcons, and a 3-10 defeat to the Sale Sharks on their own Welford Road soil.

The proud Tigers have not lost four successive Premiership matches for over a decade, the last time was way back in 2004, and neither have they suffered consecutive defeats in front of their own fans since January 2014. However, the Leicester Tigers have struggled since the start of the 6-Nations tournament to cope with the huge international demands being made of their squad, and that might just offer the Exiles a glimmer of hope for the tough trip. Although London Irish have only managed three Premiership victories this season, they have all come in the course of the last seven rounds of the tournament. However, their biggest failing, and a major factor in their position at the foot of the table, is that they have played six games away from home, and have yet to collect as much as a single losing bonus point.

Leicester Tigers will be entering unchartered territory on Saturday, when they entertain London Irish at Welford Road in Round 4 of the Aviva Premiership, having to bounce back from a 40 point hammering in their previous fixture. Last Saturday saw the Tigers stumble to the biggest Premiership Rugby defeat in the club's history, when they were humbled at the Rec by Bath to the tune of 45-0. They will be glad to at least be back on familiar territory at Welford Road, where they are unbeaten in their last seven Premiership outings, since Harlequins were victorious at the venue back in early November 2913.

The Exiles haven't beaten the Leicester Tigers in any competition since they won a Premiership clash at the Madejski Stadium 18-12 in October 2009, while they have won only once in their history at Welford Road, since they first visited the ground in 1923, when they squeezed home 20-19 back in May 2003. Although they have only won one of their three matches so far, the Exiles who beat Newcastle in Round 2, could easily have defeated Harlequins at Twickenham on the opening day, and were unlucky to go down to an 80th minute try by Billy Vunipola of Saracens last weekend.

Leicester Tigers find themselves in a strange position going into Saturday's Aviva Premiership match against London Irish, at Welford Road. They have failed to win any of their last three league matches, although they have won LV Cup matches over the past two weekends, with weakened sides, during the autumn internationals

It is a decade now since the Leicester Tigers went four games without a win, and so for the players taking the field on Saturday, they will be potentially entering uncharted territory. Exiles however, are having a woeful season, with just two league wins to their name, and defeats over the last two weekends in the LV Cup. They are certainly grateful that Worcester warriors are having such an abysmal season, otherwise they might have found themselves at rock bottom in the league, rather than in eleventh out of twelve sides.

Although the Tigers last five Aviva Premiership defeats at Welford Road have all been to London-based clubs, the Exiles have just a single away win to their name throughout the whole of 2013, and have failed to win against Leicester since October 2009. Their only success in the exiles history at Welford Road, being more than ten years ago
