London Irish                          Exeter Chiefs
Sunday 21st February 15:00 GMT

London Irish host the Exeter Chiefs at the Madejski Stadium in Reading, in Round 13 of the Aviva Premiership on Sunday. A match that is vital for both clubs for entirely different reasons. The Exiles find themselves at the foot of the table, two points adrift of the Worcester Warriors, the club immediately above them. Their visitors meanwhile, occupy second position in the table, and are just four points behind the leaders and reigning Premiership Champions, Saracens. London Irish have managed just three Premiership wins this season, to set alongside nine defeats.

All three victories have come in the course of the last six rounds of the tournament, and have all been recorded at their Reading home. The Chiefs have a seven point advantage over the third placed Leicester Tigers, despite losing three of their last five matches in the tournament. On Sunday, the Chiefs will look to extend their successful run against the Exiles, that has seen them lose just one of the last eight encounters between the two clubs, a 26-28 loss at the Madejski in January last year. The Chiefs, for all the success that they have enjoyed this season to date, both at home and in Europe, have only won once away from Sandy Park in the last five attempts, a 30-15 win against Worcester.

The only win that London Irish have to their name in the last eight games that they have played in the Aviva Premiership, was at home to the winless London Welsh on Boxing Day. Thanks to that result, and London Welsh's ongoing struggles, Irish have a 15 point buffer between themselves and the Oxford based bottom of the table Welsh.

The Exiles will be going for a third consecutive win at the Madejski Stadium in Reading on Sunday, when Exeter Chiefs are the visitors in the Premiership. Their previous two home games have seen them defeat Cardiff Blues in the European Challenge Cup, as well as the win against Welsh. Having been challenging for top spot in the Premiership table, Exeter have lost three straight games in the tournament. A run that has seen them slip to sixth in the table, but a mere point behind Wasps and Leicester Tigers.

The Exiles last win against the Chiefs in any tournament, came in late December 2011, when they won by 29-22 in Reading. The Chiefs have won all six contests between the two clubs that have been played since then. If the Chiefs manage to extend their winning run against the Exiles on Sunday, it will be only their second win on the road in the last five attempts. The other victory coming at the table topping Northampton Saints.
