The Golden Lions will be looking to make it a perfect 10 played and 10 won during the regular season when they play host to bottom of the table Griquas in Johannesburg on Saturday. There have been few signs of the Lions letting up towards the end of the season, despite their being dominant at the top of the 2015 Currie Cup table. 73 points in Bloem against the Cheetahs in Round 8, was followed by an astonishing performance last week, when they destroyed one of their main challengers for this season's title, the reigning Cup holders, Western province, in Johannesburg by 62-32.
Even fielding a weakened side as seems likely against the Griquas, as they prepare for a semi-final play-off against the Sharks or the Cheetahs, there seems little likelihood of the Lions losing their 100% winning record.
The Griquas have managed just a solitary victory this season, in Round 6, when they beat the Pumas in Kimberley by 32-15. Rather than seeing the Griquas kick on, since that result they have played three more games, lost the lot, and conceded over 40 points in each fixture. To make things even worst, none of those matches was against any of the runaway top three sides on the ladder.

In the Currie Cup this weekend, the Golden Lions face off against the Griquas in Johannesburg, Friday, August 31st at 19:10 local time and 17:10 GMT. Right now, the Golden Lions are the top team in the Currie Cup standings, with three games played so far this season. They have been able to win two of those games, and that means that they get nine points. However, they aren't the only team on the board right now with nine points. They are tied with the Natal Sharks, and the Free State Cheetahs, who also have two wins.
The Griquas come in down at sixth place right now. They have only earned one points so far, and have lost all three of the games that they have played. The Blue Bulls are fourth and Western Province comes in fifth.
