New Zealand who won the first four Under 20s Rugby World Cups, but haven't, but have managed a title since the last of those victories, back in 2011, will face France Under 20s in the first semi-final of the 2015 tournament on Monday. France, who have never finished better than fourth in the competition, which happened in 2011, the last time that the tournament was held in Italy, were the first side to secure their place in the semi-finals, when they defeated the reigning Champions England, by 30-18 in Viadana.

The Baby Blacks clinched their own place in the last four, with a workmanlike success against their nearest challengers in Pool C, Ireland. The 25-3 win, came on top of a thumping win against Scotland, and a late and dramatic 32-19 win against the Argentina U20s.

The New Zealand Under 20s may have scored the equal most tries in the Pool stage with 16, the same as South Africa, but that figure is distorted by the 68-10 win against Scotland, when they crossed the opposition line nine times. The Baby Blacks do appear slightly vulnerable, but whether a less than classic French side, who were grateful to English mistakes for their Pool victory, can take advantage, might seem open to question.
