Ireland may have started the post Brian O Driscoll era with a victory last weekend in Resistencia against the Argentina Pumas by 29-17, but their coach Joe Schmidt has not rested on the laurels of that performance.

The second match of the two game series in Cancha Del Atletico Stadium, Tucuman on Saturday sees seven changes to the Irish team from that which secured victory in the first Test.

Schmidt brings back a number of his more established stars into the starting XV for Saturday's fixture. Three of the changes are in the backs, with Rob Kearney returning at full-back, with Fergus McFadden and Eoin Reddan coming back into the XV at centre and scrum half respectively. Darren Cave moves to inside centre, to accommodate McFadden outside him.

In the forwards, the coach brings back David Kilcoyne into the front-row, and giant lock Devin Toner into the engine room. Two thirds of the back row is altered, with Rhys Ruddock coming onto the side of the scrum, with Jamie Heaslip at No.8.

Three players sitting on the bench will hope to get the call to take the pitch, giving them an international debut. Rob Herring of Ulster, Munster's James Cronin and Noel Reid from Leinster are all anxiously waiting to make senior debuts.

Ireland plays the first of their two Test matches against Argentina in Resistencia on Saturday with just one new cap amongst the starting XV.

The South African born flanker, Robbie Diack, who turns out for Ulster in the PRO12 tournament is handed his first cap in the absence of the injured Peter O'Mahony.

Ulster also provide the centre pairing, with Darren Cave and Luke Marshall providing the partnership in the first post Brian O'Driscoll Test match, since the iconic Leinsterman retired from the game. Four more Ulstermen have been named in the side; Andrew Trimble, Rory Best, Iain Henderson and Chris Henry.

Although the selection gives the impression of being highly inexperienced, and perhaps a little experimental, there are in fact seven players in the XV which started the 22-20 win in Paris against France in March, when Joe Schmidt's side clinched the 6-nations title.

The Pumas have yet to announce their side, but whoever takes the field for the home side, they will be very much under strength, with most of their European-based players unavailable for the two match series, due to club commitments. Top class players such as Juan Martin Fernandez Lobbe of Toulon, and the Racing Metro pair of Juan Martin Hernandez and Juan Imhoff along with the Toulouse lock Patricio Albacete are all absentees.
