Taranaki themselves came into Week 4 without a win to their name, but finally managed to break their duck with a hard fought win against Counties-Manukau by 17-10 in New Plymouth. That win ended a seven match winless streak for the Champions. Despite their struggles in the early weeks of the new campaign, it would be a major upset if the home side were to record a first win of the season on Sunday. Indeed they are without a point of any description this season, the only team in either division of the ITM Cup who is still pointless.

All three losses that the Taranaki Bulls have suffered this season, have been by small enough margins for them to pick up a losing bonus point in each case. A statistic that might suggest that they aren't far off the results, if not the form, that propelled them to the title in 2014.
