Cardiff Blues                          Ospreys
Saturday 30th April 13:30 GMT

The Cardiff Blues and the Ospreys who meet at the Principality Stadium Cardiff on Saturday, are both still in with an outside chance of finishing in the top six on the RaboDirect PRO12 table, which would provide entry to next season's Champions Cup. The Blues who have won four successive PRO12 matches, will be attempting to make it five on the bounce for the first time since 2010. Since the introduction of 'Judgement Day' the Blues have only managed to register a solitary victory, which came back in 2014 against the Scarlets. The only occasion that they haven't faced the Ospreys on this staged day.

The Swansea based Ospreys have won their previous two PRO12 fixtures, and trail sixth placed Edinburgh by four points. Defeat on Saturday, will end their hopes of Champions Cup rugby next season. However, they have a 100% winning record at the Principality Stadium, where they have played and won on five occasions in all tournaments. A sixth win at the venue, will see them leapfrog the Cardiff Blues, who currently lead them by three points. When the sides played at the Liberty Stadium in April 2011, the match ended 21-21. Since when they have clashed nine times, with the Ospreys victorious on each occasion.

If the Ospreys succeed in beating their Welsh rivals the Cardiff Blues on Saturday, at the Millennium Stadium, they should effectively ensure that they will be taking part in the post-season play-offs. They are currently in fourth position on the Guinness PRO12 table, but have an eight point buffer over the reigning Champions Leinster, who face a tricky trip to Belfast to face Ulster on Friday evening. The Millennium Stadium has been a happy hunting ground for the Blues in the past, with three victories from the four PRO12 fixtures that they have played at the venue. The only reverse was against the Ospreys two years ago on “judgement day”.

The Ospreys record at the Millennium Stadium is even more impressive, having played and won Anglo-Welsh Cup semi-finals at the venue in 2007 and 2008, and also their “Judgement day” fixture over RaboDirect PRO12 Live fixture over the past two seasons. Two of those wins coming against the Blues.Ospreys will certainly be favourites on Saturday to extend their winning run against the Blues to eight games in the PRO12, stretching back to New Year’s Eve 2010, when the Blues were victorious in a game played at the Cardiff City Stadium, their home ground at that time.

If Cardiff Blues can bring their Heineken Cup form to the PRO12 competition on Friday night at the Arms Park, then their Welsh rivals the Ospreys are in for a hard time. The last two weeks have seen the Blues complete a Heineken double over the Glasgow Warriors, that has kept them very much in the hunt for a place in the knockout stages of that particular tournament. However, their RaboDirect Pro12 campaign, has to say the least been erratic this season, and they find themselves well off the pace, in ninth place, and a massive nineteen points behind the leaders Munster, who by coincidence, are the only side that has defeated the Blues in their last five games that they have played in all tournaments. a 31-10 hammering at the Arms Park at the end of November.

Their last victory on the road coming in Galway against Connacht on the last weekend in September. Although the Blues defeated Swansea Ospreys earlier this season, in the Anglo-Welsh Cup, they have not beaten their West Wales rivals since 31st December 2010.
