Two of the sides currently in the top four of the RaboDirect PRO12 tournament table, meet at the Scotstoun on Friday, when the Glasgow Warriors host the Irishmen of Ulster. The Warriors who are in fourth position in the table, will be defending a nine game winning streak at the venue in the PRO12. The last team to beat them there, being the Scarlets in the opening round of last season's competition. That reversal is the only time that they have lost at the Scotstoun in the PRO12 since way back in November 2013.

Ulster, one of three sides who have recorded three victories so far, the others being the Ospreys and the Blues, have lost just once in their last eight PRO12 fixtures. However, that came in the knockout phase of last season's PRO12, when fellow Irish Province Leinster defeated them at the RDA in the semi-final. The last regular season fixture that they lost, was their last visit to the Scotstoun, which came in late March of this year. Their most recent PRO12 success in Glasgow, came at Firhill in March 2011. Overall, the two sides have played each other on 29 occasions in the PRO12, and have won 14 times each, with the other game ending in a draw.

The reigning Guinness PRO12 Champions, the Glasgow Warriors, host a massive fixture at the Scotstoun Stadium on Friday Evening, when Ulster travel from across the Irish Sea. Last week's victory against Leinster by 12-6, pushed the Champions right back into the chase for a top four finish in the regular season table, and a chance to defend their title in the post-season knockout phase of the tournament. When the sides met back on the 12th February in Belfast, Ulster came out on top by just 13-10. Since when, the Warriors have embarked on a four game winning streak in the competition, rising to sixth in the table, just four points adrift of Ulster in fourth, but still with a game in hand.

Ulster face a formidable challenge if they are to complete a first season's double against the Scottish outfit since 2010/11. The Irish Province have only ever recorded one success at the Scotstoun, at that came in the Champions Cup back in October 2012, while the Warriors haven't been beaten at Friday's venue in the RaboDirect PRO12 since the opening weekend of the season, when the Scarlets were the visitors, and the tournament was being contested by teams shorn of their internationals due to World Cup requirements.

The first RaboDirect PRO12 semi-final takes place on Friday evening at the Scotstoun Stadium, when the Glasgow Warriors play host to visitors from across the Irish Sea, Ulster. Last weekend's frenzied finish to the regular season, which saw four teams battling it out for the two home ties in the knockout phase of the competition, before the final in Belfast. The Warriors rose to the top of the pile with a 32-10 win against Ulster, with a rush of late tries securing the Scottish side a try-scoring bonus point, and with it, a home game against the same opposition on Friday, at the same venue. For the Warriors who are appearing in the semi-finals for the fourth straight season, they will hope be hoping to extend their winning run at the Scotstoun, which currently stands at 19 matches, taking them to the Grand Final, and a chance to go one better than last season, when they lost the title to Leinster in Dublin.

Ulster have a more than decent record in recent seasons in the PRO12 themselves. They are making their third successive semi-final appearance, and made the final two seasons ago. Like Glasgow Warriors they were beaten in Dublin by Leinster. They have also won their two previous knockout matches in Glasgow, although those were way back in 2002 and 2003. Over the last couple of campaigns, they have lost five consecutive clashes against the Warriors.

Glasgow Warriors and Ulster go head to head on Saturday at the Scotstoun, both chasing the victory that will give them a chance of securing a home semi-final in the post=season play-offs. Although they have occupied a place in the top two in the table ever since Round 10, a defeat on Saturday could see the Warriors miss out on the advantage of playing at home in the semi-finals. Defeat at the Liberty Stadium in Round 21 against the Ospreys has put the Glasgow Warriors position in jeopardy, as the Welshmen climbed above the Scots to head the table going into the final round of regular season fixtures.

The Warriors are the only side in the tournament that can boast of a 100% winning record at home in the current season, and have not lost at the Scotstoun in the RaboDirect PRO12 since November 2013, when the Newport Gwent Dragons were the visitors. An Ulster win on Saturday, would ensure that they finish above the Warriors, but depending on other results, may still not be enough to clinch a top two place. When the teams clashed earlier in the season in Belfast, Ulster ran out winners by 29-9, but have not completed a season double against the Scottish outfit since the 2010/11 season.

The big matches seem to be coming thick and fast at present for the Glasgow Warriors, as they seek to win an end of season play-off place in the RaboDirect PRO12 tournament. Having beaten their biggest rivals for fourth spot, the Ospreys, just a few weeks ago, and then conquered the might Munster at Thomond Park last weekend, the Warriors currently occupy fourth position. Last week's victory was vital, as the Ospreys they achieved a big win, by overcoming the table topping Leinster at the Liberty Stadium. It has also put the warriors in a position where they can overtake Munster, if they win their game in hand on the Irish Province. A combination of the Munster defeat, and Ulster's crushing of Connacht at Ravenhill, saw Ulster rise to second in the table, and they will be anxious to maintain that position, for the benefit of a home semi-final that goes with it, as a reward.

The Glasgow Warriors have won four successive PRO12 matches, and have had the better of clashes with the Irish Provinces this season, having won five and lost two of the matches played. The last two games between the sides have gone the way of Glasgow, and a win on Friday, would complete their first season double over the Irishmen since 2009/10.
