Five defeats in the opening 10 fixtures that they played in the defence of their RaboDirect PRO12 title, appeared to have left the Glasgow Warriors little chance of qualifying for the post-season play-offs, and the opportunity to claim back to back titles. However, they have put together a run of results that has seen them lose just one of the last 10 fixtures in the competition, and register victory in each of the last eight. They now find themselves on the cusp of a play-off spot for the fifth successive season, and will secure that position should they beat the Italians of Zebre on Friday Evening at the Scotstoun Stadium. A ninth consecutive win will also equal the club record, which dates back to 2013/14.

When the sides met in Parma just three weeks ago, the Glasgow warriors ran out easy 43-14 winners. With two rounds of the regular season remaining, Zebre are clinging onto the Italian qualification spot for next season's Champions Cup. But their advantage over Benetton, who entertain Connacht on Friday, is a mere 3 points. All seven previous clashed between the two sides have ended in victory for the Warriors, and on the last six occasions, they have also collected a try-scoring bonus point.

Glasgow warriors were knocked off of the top of the RaboDirect PRO12 table last Saturday in Cork, when they went down to Munster by 10-22. That result not only brought to an end a three game winning streak for the Scottish outfit, but also allowed the Irish Province to climb a point ahead of them at the head of the table. On Friday, the Warriors will be hoping to get back to winning ways when they entertain the Italians of Zebre at the Scotstoun Stadium, a venue where they have now won 16 PRO12 games on the trot. The last team to beat the Warriors at their regular home stadium, being the Newport Gwent Dragons way back in November 2013.

Zebre remain at the foot of the table, despite last weekend's win at home against the Dragons. However, that victory did enable them to close the gap on their fellow countrymen from Treviso to four points, as they chase the one automatic place open to Italian sides in next season's Champions Cup tournament. The two sides have met on five previous occasions, with the Glasgow warriors emerging victorious each time. The last two contests have seen the Scots score 54 points in both fixtures, and to score a total of 15 tries.

Probably the biggest clash of the last round of matches in the RaboDirect PRO12 tournament takes place at the Scotstoun Stadium in Glasgow on Saturday. Both sides are chasing victory for entirely different reasons. Glasgow Warriors are currently second in the table, and are already assured of a place in the play-offs. However, a victory will secure them a home semi-final match at the very least, while if Leinster slips up at home to Edinburgh, however, unlikely that is, the Warriors could find themselves finishing top of the table, and winning the top seeding for the play-offs. A win for the Warriors, would be their eighth on the trot in the tournament, and would see them set a new club record, beating the previous best that was set last season. Glasgow will be disappointed if they don't secure the all important win, having not lost to an Italian side since 2011, when Treviso were the visitors to Firhill, and having won all their previous clashes with Zebre.

For Zebre the importance of the match lies in the qualifying process for next season's European Champions Cup. They are currently holding the Italian qualifying position, after last week's surprise, last gasp victory against the Ospreys. They need to match or better the Treviso result at the Newport Gwent Dragons, and they will find themselves in next season's Champions Cup, with Treviso missing out.
