The outcome of the Leinster against Glasgow Warriors Guinness PRO12 match at the RDS Arena in Dublin on Friday night, may depend on how many of the team's international players return to play in the tournament, after the exertions of last weekend's World Cup quarter finals. Both sides have won two and lost two of the early season games, played without their international stars, leaving them in mid-table, with the Warriors in sixth place, a single point and place above their Irish rivals.

The Warriors arrive in the Irish capital as the reigning RaboDirect PRO12 Champions, and they will need to perform like that, if they are to escape from the RDS with the points, given that their hosts have lost just one of their last 33 matches played in all competitions at the venue. That was a narrow 14-16 defeat to Newport Gwent Dragons in the PRO12 back in mid-February.

The Scottish outfit did come perilously close to winning at the venue last season on their way to the title, drawing an absolute thriller of a contest 34-34 last March. The only time that the Glasgow Warriors have managed to win on Leinster's home soil was back in September 2011, when they triumphed at the RDS by 23-19.

The RDS will host an almighty RaboDirect PRO12 clash on Friday evening between reigning Champions Leinster, and the current table toppers the Glasgow Warriors. Leinster's recent stuttering form, that has seen them win just once in the last five games that they have played in all tournaments, has seen them slip just outside the play-off positions, although they are only two points adrift of the fourth placed Ospreys.

However, Leinster's record at the RDS is quite remarkable, and just a single defeat there in their last nine fixtures, a shock 14-16 loss to the Dragons in mid-February, will give them every encouragement that they can topple the leaders. The Warriors have a four point buffer over Ulster and Munster in the chase for the top two positions, which ensure a home semi-final in the play-offs, and they come into Friday's contest with just one defeat in their last five PRO12 fixtures. A 10-22 loss at Munster in Round 16.

When the sides met at Scotstoun Stadium earlier in the season, the Scottish team won a tight encounter by just 22-20. A win on Friday, which be only the second ever that they have registered on Leinster soil, would give them their first ever season double over the men in blue.

Saturday evening will see Leinster bid to become the first side ever to defend the RaboDirect PRO12 at the Royal Dublin Society Dublin, when they tackle the Scots from Glasgow Warriors. This will be the Irish Province's fifth consecutive final, and they have three previous title wins behind them, in 2001/2, 2007/8, and of course last season. The two protagonists not only finished in the top two places in the PRO12 table, but are very much the form teams from the competition, going into Saturday's final.

Leinster has lost just one match in the tournament since round 10. An away defeat at the Liberty Stadium against the Ospreys on April 11, added to which they have lost just once at the RDS in any competition, since the PRO12 final in 2012, which was back in March 2013 to Ulster. The Glasgow Warriors have won their last nine PRO12 matches, their last defeat coming against Leinster in late March at the RDS by just 25-28. They are however, the only Scottish team to have defeated Leinster at the RDS, a 23-19 success back in September 2011.

That victory at the RDS was the Warriors only success in their previous 19 trips to Dublin to face Leinster in all competitions, and it would be something of an upset, despite the Warriors recent run in the tournament, if the Irishmen don't defend their title successfully.

The RDS in Dublin will play host to the biggest game in the RaboDirect PRO12 competition this weekend, when Leinster will meet the Glasgow Warriors on Saturday night. Leinster's only defeat since round 5 was away to Edinburgh on 20 December and that record has seen them establish themselves in the top two of the table. Currently sitting just two points behind their great Irish rivals Munster, but 13 points clear of fifth place Glasgow. With just seven rounds left to complete, before the four sides who will contest the end of season play-offs, Leinster's place seems secure, while Glasgow are embroiled in a three way fight, with Ulster and the Ospreys, for the final two places.

The Glasgow Warriors had set a record of seven successive away victories, a run that came to an end last weekend, when they slipped to the narrowest of defeats at the Newport Gwent Dragons 23-24. A defeat that saw them slip out of the top four, though they still have games in hand on Ulster and the Ospreys, which could see them, climb as high as third in the table, if they can win those matches.

When the two sides met at Scotstoun in round 3, the Warriors were successful by 12-6, but to complete the double over the Irish Province, they will have to win on Leinster soil for just the second time in 19 matches, their only victory being at the RDS in September 2011 by 23-19.
