Saturday 24th September 15:05 GMT

The Italians from Parma, Zebre, are at home to the Cardiff Blues on Saturday in the Stadio Sergio Lanfranchi, in Round 4 of the RaboDirect PRO12 tournament. Saturday's fixture, will effectively be Zebre's first home game of the season, after last weekend's clash with the reigning Champions, Connacht, was abandoned due to the thunder and lightning storm that struck the area. The last time that the Italians played at home in a fixture where the result stood, they enjoyed a 47-22 victory against the Newport Gwent Dragons in Round 22 last season. Should they become the first side to beat the Blues this season, they will register back to back wins for the first time since last October.

The Cardiff Blues, who along with Ulster and the Ospreys are the three teams in the PRO12 with 100% winning records after Round 3, have lost just one of their last nine PRO12 fixtures. That loss was on 'Judgement Day' last April against the Ospreys by 27-40. However, Italy has not been a happy hunting ground for the Blues. They have recorded just a solitary win in the country on their last seven visits in the PRO12. That came against Saturday's opponents by 41-26 in September 2014. There have been eight previous PRO12 clashes between the sides, with Zebre winning three times. Their equal best record against one PRO12 opponent, having also recorded three victories against Edinburgh and Treviso.

Zebre from Parma achieved just the ninth victory of the short history in the RaboDirect PRO12 tournament last weekend when they defeated visiting Edinburgh from Scotland by 19-11. That victory was enough to lift them off of the foot of the PRO12 table, with their fellow Italians from Benetton Treviso replacing them at the foot of the ladder. The Parma based outfit will hope that they can build on that win, as they welcome the Cardiff Blues to their home ground on Saturday.

The Blues themselves have only managed to win one game this season, ironically it came in Round 1, when they battered Zebre in Cardiff by 61-13, scoring 11 tries along the way. Such has been the imbalance of the Blues fixture list, that since that opening weekend win, they have travelled to all four Irish Provinces, and collected an unwanted grand slam of defeats. On Saturday they face a fifth straight away match at the At Stadio Sergio Lanfranchi. The Italians have beaten the Blues on two previous occasions in the PRO12, both victories coming in the 2013/14 season, the second season after their formation. The other five fixtures between the sides, have all gone the way of the Blues.

Last season was Zebre's second in the RaboDirect PRO12 tournament, and they certainly progressed on their performance in their inaugural campaign, when they lost each of their fixtures. On Sunday they face the Cardiff Blues at Stadio XXV Aprile in their opening fixture of the 2014 15 competition. The Welsh Region were their opponents when the Italians posted their first ever victory in the tournament, when they triumphed in a shock 30-25 win at the BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park 30-25 in round 3 last year.

The Italians went on to complete their first ever PRO12 season double, when they beat the Cardiff Blues in Parma by 15-10 in March, and achievement that Cardiff had managed against the Italians in the previous season.Zebre are unbeaten in their last four games in Parma, a run that nearly saw them overhaul Treviso for the Italian place in the inaugural Champions Cup. An emphatic 50 point beating by Glasgow Warriors ultimately denied them that reward. The Blues had a poor record against Italian sides last season, winning just one of their four matches against opposition from that country. A home victory against Treviso in Round 7. They will certainly need to improve on that record if they are to make a serious challenge in this season's PRO12 tournament.

The Italians of Zebre have the opportunity of recording their first ever double in the RaboDirect PRO12 tournament on Saturday, when they face the Cardiff Blues at the Stadio XXV Aprile. The Italian side lost all 22 matches that they played in the competition last season, but have improved considerably in the current campaign; even of they do occupy the bottom position in the table.

It was back on 20 September that Zebre recorded their first ever win in the PRO12, when they secured a major upset victory at the Arms Park against the Blues by 30-25, and they will hope to make a little bit of history on Saturday by beating the Welsh Region for the second time this season. With Cardiff on a run that has seen them win just once from their last eight games played in the competition, Zebre will never have a better chance of recording that first memorable double. The Cardiff Blues will not only be looking for an upsurge in form, they will also be looking to record their first away win in the tournament this season, being one of only three sides that have yet to register a success on the road during the current campaign.

On Sunday, the 25th of November, Zebre and the Cardiff Blues play a game in the RaboDirect Pro12 competition in Parma, which will be held at 15:00 local time and 14:00 GMT. Right now, we find Zebre in the very last spot of the RaboDirect Pro12 table, still without a single win this season. They have had the opportunity to play eight games, just like everyone else, but they were not able to take home a win and the only three points that they have earned have been bonus points. The top of the table is Ulster right now.

As for the Cardiff Blues, they are in seventh place right now with three wins and five losses. They have earned fifteen points so far this season, and two of those fifteen have been from bonus points. They are a long way from reaching Leinster in sixth with 22 points however.
