Given that run of losses, the Australia will have been grateful for any sort of win, but the result against the Boks was anything but convincing, as they had to drag themselves back from 3-14 behind. The Wallabies will be without Allan Alaalatoa, who is sidelined with a knee injury. the selectors have added two props to their squad in Toby Smith and Tom Robertson. Los Pumas shared the spoils with the Springboks, losing away and winning at home. Before last week facing the toughest assignment of them all, an away trip to play the All Blacks. For 50 minutes the visitors went toe to toe with the World Champions, trailing by just 22-24, but they were unable to contain the onslaught that engulfed them in the last half and hour. The final score was 57-22 in favour of the Kiwis, who scored 8-1 tries. Los Pumas occupy third spot in the table, just a point behind the Boks and one in front of the Wallabies.

The Pumas who had started the 2014 tournament with two narrow defeats to the Springboks, which had brought them two losing bonus points, went down to the All Blacks 28-9 in Napier, in controversial circumstances, having had a try disallowed when the match was still in the balance. Australia coach Ewen McKenzie has made a number of changes to the side that won in Perth, bringing back Waratahs hooker Tatafu Polota-Nau after overcoming a knee injury suffered in the Super Rugby final. Two other changes to the run on XV see Wycliff Palu who was concussed last week replaced by Ben McCalman, and winger Peter Betham in for Adam Ashley-Cooper who has a neck injury. The Pumas bring lock Matias Alemanno into the side in place of the suspended Tomas Lavanini. While wingers Juan Imhoff and Manuel Montero have both been promoted to the starting side.

The Wallabies were woeful against South Africa as they suffered their first ever loss in Brisbane to the Boks last weekend. Their forward pack simply failed to show up, with the front row and Sekope Kepu in particular getting annihilated at scrum time. There was a lack of purpose in the Wallaby attack and the inability of their loose forward trio to match their Bok counterparts at the breakdown was another big reason for the loss. The home side also failed to score a try and all of their 12 points came from the boot of Brumbies centre Christian Leali’ifano.

The Argentines gave the All Blacks a tough game in Hamilton and it was not until Julian Savea’s try in the second half, which came after Argentina had a box kick, charged down, did New Zealand breathe easy. The Pumas pack will certainly fancy a crack at the Wallabies after more than holding their own against the All Blacks. Will Argentina stun the Wallabies?
