South Africa opens their international season on Saturday in Newlands Stadium Cape Town against a World XV. They will go on to play two Tests against Wales and one against Scotland later in June.
For the first time in three years, the South Africa fans will see the second row pairing of, what are now veterans, Victor Matfield and Bakkies Botha.
Matfield retired from the game at the start of the year, but named as skipper in the place of the injured Jean de Villiers, there was little doubt that he would be starting the game on Saturday in his familiar No.5 jersey.
Springbok coach Heyneke Meyer had recalled Botha to international duty at the end of last year, and he has named him to partner Matfield against the World XV, and extend the record for a second row Test partnership.
The pair won World Cup Winners medals in 2007, but they last played together at the 2011 tournament.
The World XV coach, Nick Mallett, has selected five South Africans in his side to take on their countrymen; Wynand Olivier, Rory Kockott, Alistair Hargreaves, Juandre Kruger and Craig Burden.
Mallett also has the skills of Australians James O'Connor, Drew Mitchell and Matt Giteau available to him, with Kiwis Rene Ranger and Hosea Gear adding extra cutting edge to a dangerous looking backline.
