Argentina, having been beaten in their opening Pool C fixture at the 2015 World Cup by defending Champions the All Blacks, play their second match on Friday at Kingsholm Stadium in Gloucester. Their opponents are the Lelos of Georgia, who were the other side in the Pool to open with a win. Los Pumas pushed the All Blacks all the way in front of a record World Cup crowd at Wembley on Sunday, leading into the second half, before finally succumbing by 16-26, the Champions scoring their two tries in the final 20 minutes.
Georgia arrived at the Rugby World Cup, with the target of finishing third in the Pool, and therefore, achieving automatic qualification to the 2019 tournament to be held in Japan. Their upset win against Tonga in Gloucester on Saturday, has set them well on the way, given that they still have to play Namibia.
The two teams have met at the last two World Cup tournaments, with Argentina successful on both occasions. Winning by 33-3 in Lyon in 2007, and then again four years later in Palmerston North by 25-7. A physical contest should be expected on Friday, with Los Pumas experience sufficient to see them home, and put them right back into the qualifying mix.
