France and Scotland Under 20s, both of whom lost their opening fixture in the 2017 Six Nations, face each other on Friday Evening at the Stade des Alpes in Grenoble. Scotland certainly had every chance of defeating Ireland at the Broadway Stadium last weekend, but having led 13-6 at the interval, and 19-13 late in the game, they were unable to close the game out, and a late converted try condemned them to a heartbreaking 19-20 defeat.

The Scots head coach, Sean Lineen, has refused to panic in light of the Irish loss, and has made just two changes to his side for the trip to the Alps. Stafford McDowall has been brought in at full-back, with Ross McCann being named on the bench, while Bruce Flockhart in the back row, is set to make his U20 debut, in place of Matt Fagerson who is unavailable for selection due to a head injury. France Under 20s who were thrashed in their tournament opener by England in Exeter 17-59, have made a raft of changes in response to that result. At fly-half Romain Ntamack, the son of the former French international Emile, is set to make a first start, while the selectors have named a brand new front row, consisting of Léo Aouf, Etienne Fourcade and Thomas Laclayat.

Scotland could hardly have a more difficult to start in the 2015 6-Nations U20 championship, with a trip to take on the defending Grand Slam Champions France Under 20s on Saturday night in Gueugnon. While France were winning all five games last season, the Scots slipped to defeat in all their fixtures to pick up the wooden spoon, during the course of which they conceded 24 tries and a total of 175 points, both the worse of the championship.

Scotland Under 20s Head Coach Sean Lineen has named Edinburgh's Jamie Ritchie to lead the side, which is a blend of experience and newcomers to the international scene at this level. Ritchie will win his fifth cap in the process. The French were distraught to slip up in their final game at the JWC, and fail to make the semi-finals, after their Grand Slam. Keen to make amends, they have a squad full of players with Top 14 experience. Last season's Six Nations success was built on the quality of defence, with Les Bleus managing just 11 tries on the way to the title, they did however, only concede six tries, and fifty one points altogether in their five wins.
