The Blues against the Force will set few pulses racing, even among the most fervent of their own supporters. Both sides have had miserable seasons, and have managed just a solitary victory each during the 2015 Super Rugby season. Force are currently rock bottom of the table, with the Blues the team that are immediately above them.

The Blues might point to the imbalance of their fixture list as a reason for their poor showing. They have played only three home games out of ten fixtures thus far, and only one of those was at their usual home of Eden park. Two games played at Albany as home matches were both lost, while the solitary game at Eden Park has produced their only win of the campaign, when they overcame the Brumbies 16-14.

The Force have lost nine successive matches, since their opening day victory in Sydney, when they shocked the reigning Champions the Waratahs. The two games that they have played against New Zealand opposition this season have both resulted in defeat, 28-35 last weekend in Hamilton against the Chiefs, and 13-42 at home when they faced the Hurricanes. The Force have only ever beaten the Blues on one occasion, and that came in Auckland, when they triumphed by 27-17 in 2008.
