The Brumbies who started the 2016 Super Rugby season in such dominant form have now lost three of the last four matches that they played in the competition, and find themselves in tenth place on the overall table, and outside the wildcard positions. On Friday they will face the Bulls from South Africa at the GIO Stadium Canberra, who have now gone seven games unbeaten in the competition. Overall the Brumbies have now won five and lost four matches. The last three losses have all come against powerful New Zealand opposition, in the form of the Chiefs, Crusaders and the Highlanders. The first two of which both won in Canberra.

The Australian side were also beaten by the Stormers in Cape Town by 11-31. Their other fixture so far against opposition from the Republic, saw them defeat the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein by 25-18. The Bulls only defeat in 2016 came in Round 1 at the Stormers. Since when they have won six and drawn one of the subsequent seven fixtures they have played. Eight previous meetings between these two teams in Canberra, have ended in seven wins for the hosts, and just solitary success, back in 2007 for the visiting Bulls.

The Brumbies and the Bulls who meet in Canberra on Friday, and both in the mix for a play-off spot, both as their national Conference winners, or through a top six finish. The Brumbies had a bye in Round 15, which saw the reigning Champions the Waratahs overtake them, to open up a three point gap at the top of the Australian Conference. However, they still just about held on to their sixth place in the overall table. With a visit to Perth, and another home game against the struggling Crusaders, who may well be out of the running by the time they travel to Canberra, still to come, the Brumbies will be confident of a strong finish to the season, The Bulls are playing the third match of the tour on Friday, and have only a solitary bonus point to show for their efforts so far, having been beaten by the Blues 18-23 and the Chiefs 20-34.

The Stormers and the Lions both won last weekend, which relegated the Bulls to third place in the South African Conference, but with just a three point deficit to the Stormers, and lying two points adrift of the Lions, the Bulls still have every chance of making it through to the knockout phase.

Saturday, the 30th of March, it will be the Brumbies and the Bulls in Canberra in Super Rugby, with the match starting at 19:40 local time and 08:40 GMT. We find the Brumbies leading the Australian Conference right now. They have 23 points earned, and three of them came from bonus points. The rest are from the four wins that they have taken, plus they had a bye as well. The Reds are the second placed team on that table, with 4 wins and 17 points earned, and then the Waratahs take the third spot. Fourth and fifth are Force and Melbourne Rebels.

As for the Bulls, they currently come in at second on the South African conference standings. They have played five games so far and were able to take home three wins. They don't have a bye, so they get fourteen points, tied with the Stormers in number three.
