The Bulls will be hoping to follow up their opening 2014 Super Rugby victory last weekend, when they beat the Lions 25-17, with another home victory when they play host to the Blues from New Zealand at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday. Prior to their success against the Lions, the Bulls had opened their campaign with two losses on the road, against the Cheetahs and the Sharks.

The Blues arrive in South Africa, having recorded a stunning come from behind victory last week against their great rivals, the Crusaders, when after trailing 3-17, they recovered to win 35-24, for their first points of the season, having lost their opening match against the Highlanders.

Akona Ndungane will win his 100th Super Rugby cap for the Bulls on Saturday. Having made his debut against the Cats in 2005, he collected his 50th cap against the Reds four years later. He will become only the ninth player to reach this milestone in the Bulls Super Rugby history. What makes Ndungane's achievement all the more remarkable is the fact that he has suffered two broken legs during the course of his career.

The home side's coach, Frans Ludeke has made three changes, all in the forwards, to the team to face the Blues.

Frik Kirsten has a sore back, and is replaced at tight head prop by Werner Kruger. Deon Stegmann has recovered from a groin strain, and returns to make his first start of 2014 at flanker, with Jono Ross moving from number six to his more natural position of No.8, where he replaces Grant Hattingh. Ludeke will be hoping that the Springbok, Stegmann, will be able to slow down the Blues ball at the breakdown area, where they thrive on quick clean possession.

Morne Mellett who has yet to make an appearance this season will warm the bench in place of Kirsten.
