Only the Brumbies also remain with a 100% winning record at the end of Round 3. However, despite crossing their opponents line on six occasions, they failed to claim a bonus point, suggesting some defensive frailties.

At least they secured the victory, after having lost their opening match, against the Stormers, who were easy 33-9 victors in Round 1. The Bulls next four games after Friday, all look winnable, coming against the newly formed Sunwolves, the Cheetahs, the Kings and the Force. A win against the Sharks could see the Bulls challenging at the top of the ladder by the end of Round 8. However, the Sharks are looking like perspective title challengers during the early rounds of the 2016 season. After thrashing the King's 43-8, they overcame the powerful Los Jaguares by 19-15, before inflicting a first defeat of the season on the Stormers last weekend at Newlands by 18-13. The Sharks will be anxious to end a run of four consecutive losses in Pretoria, as they have a tough run of fixtures coming up, with home games against the Crusaders and the Lions, before heading off on tour to New Zealand for three matches.

The Bulls are looking for their first Super Rugby win of the season on Saturday, when they host the Sharks at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria, in Round 3 of the 2015 tournament. The fixture list looked to have been extremely kind to the Bulls, handing them three successive home fixtures to start the season. However, as they come into the Sharks game, they have suffered two defeats, and picked up just a solitary losing bonus point, leaving them with just the pointless Lions below them in the overall table. Defeats to the Stormers 17-29 and then the touring Hurricanes 13-17, has seen the Bulls score just two tries, and their form in Pretoria contrasts massively with that in 2014, when they won all their matches against South African sides, and the only side to deny them victory on their own ground were the Chiefs, who escaped the venue with a 34-34 draw.

Sharks also started the season with two home matches. The first of which saw them suffer a surprise loss to the Cheetahs by 29-35, before they recovered in dreadful weather conditions last weekend to beat the Lions 29-12. The  Sharks have won on only one of their last five visits to Pretoria, 26-23 in 2011, and with three more matches against South African teams before they travel outside the Republic, they will be looking to get points on the table early, and put pressure on their rivals for the 2015 title.

The Sharks currently lead the Super Rugby table, and are one of the only two remaining unbeaten sides in the tournament, but it must be said that they have had the advantage of the most kind fixture list of the competing sides. When they travel to Pretoria for this weekend's fixture against the Bulls, it will be their first game away from their Durban home, this season. The Bulls will have their third captain of the season on Saturday, and will be skippered by Victor Matfield, in place of the injured Flip van der Merwe, whose place in the side is taken by Paul Willemse. The two sides have met 21 times since 1998, with the Bulls having the slight upper hand, with 11 wins to the Sharks 9, while one game was drawn. The venue of this week's game, Loftus Versfeld Stadium, has seen a fairly equal share of the spoils, with 5 wins to the Bulls and 4 wins to the Sharks in the 10 matches contested there since 1998.

The visitors have already opened up a six point lead over the Bulls in the South African conference and a victory this weekend would establish the Natal Sharks as the very firm favorites to secure the Conference, even at this relatively early stage of the season.

Their forwards were immense in the first half and battered the Blues to take a 17-5 advantage going into the break.

However the intensity disappeared in the second and the Blues fought their way back to lead 20-17. Stand in skipper Bismarck du Plessis’ decision to go for a match winning try and not kick for poles proved to be decisive as full back Riaan Viljoen dived in the corner in the dying seconds to give them four crucial log points. However the form of fly half Patrick Lambie, who left fourteen points on the field due to his poor kicking, and that of skipper Keegan Daniel left much to be desired. Victory over the Bulls will keep the Sharks’ playoff hopes alive, but only if the Cheetahs do not win against the Blues in Bloemfontein in the earlier game. The Sharks scrum was excellent against the Blues and will look to dominate the Bulls at Loftus too. Sign up today and see Bulls v Sharks live Super 15 streaming as it happens.
