Cheetahs                          Sharks
Saturday 14th March 15:05 GMT

The Cheetahs meet the Sharks in Bloemfontein on Saturday, the second time that the teams will have met this season, which will only be 5 Rounds old. When the teams faced each other in Durban on the opening weekend of the season, the Cheetahs caused something of a shock, when they defeated last season's comfortable Conference winners by 35-29 in their own stadium. They then followed up with a rather fortunate win against a poor Blues side, scrapping home by just 25-24. The bubble finally burst in Round 4, when the Bulls recorded at emphatic win by 39-20 in the Free State Stadium.

The Sharks who were easily the best of the South African franchises last season, have struggled through the early stages of the new campaign. Just one win from four games is their record so far, and they find themselves in a lowly 10th position overall.

The Sharks led the head to head record in Bloem by four wins to two, but last season, the Cheetahs were 27-20 winners, their first success on home soil against the Natal Sharks since 2010. The visitors have scored at least two tries on each visit since that defeat, and Saturday's contest promises to deliver plenty more attacking rugby.

Two sides who have had markedly contrasting Super Rugby seasons clash in Free State Stadium Bloemfontein on Saturday when the Cheetahs host the Sharks. The Cheetahs have managed just three victories and a draw this season, while they have been beaten on 10 occasions. Their record has left them in bottom spot on the overall table, although they yet hope to over haul the Lions so as to avoid finishing at the bottom of the South African Conference.

Meanwhile, the Sharks have been the one bright spot for South Africa in Super Rugby 2014. 10 wins sees them in second place in the overall table, behind only the Waratahs from Sydney. Their place in the play-offs is already assured, and they continue their selection policy of rotation for Saturday's match. The Cheetahs include their Springboks on Saturday in Bloemfonetin, with Nyakane, Adriaan Strauss, Coenie Oosthuizen, Lood de Jager, Teboho Mohoje, Johan Goosen, Cornal Hendricks and Willie le Roux all starting the Sharks fixture, having been involved with the national squad for the past month.

Although the Cheetahs have captured the scalps of the Bulls, Stormers and Brumbies at home this season, Natal Sharks have a fine away record. They won three times on tour to New Zealand and Australia as well as beating the Lions at Ellis Park.
