The Stormers have made a number of changes to their side, from the one that secured a nail biting 19-18 victory last weekend against the Hurricanes, for their next Super Rugby outing, against the Crusaders in Canterbury.
The tourists will be without second row forward, Rynhardt Elstadt, for the rest of their trip, after he picked up a shoulder injury which will sideline him for 4-6 weeks. Flanker Siya Kolisi will also miss the Crusaders clash, as he is being rested for a week, to give the condition of his AC joint time to improve, and he should be fit enough to be considered for selection again the following week.
Michael Rhodes, who has come on as a replacement in the Stormers opening two fixtures, will replace Elstadt in the second row.
Coach, Allister Coetzee, has better news with the return of fit-again De Kock Steenkamp and Schalk Burger. Burger missed the win against the Hurricanes with a mild groin strain, but will return to the team as vice-captain. Steenkamp has also been suffering with a groin injury, and Saturday will see him make his first appearance of the season.
In an unforced change, scrum half Nic Groom will make his first start of the 2014 season.
Coetzee certainly appears to have some major impact available to him from the bench on Saturday. Former WP U21 lock Ruan Botha has earned a call up to replace Manuel Carizza, who injured a wrist against the Hurricanes.
Louis Schreuder also takes a seat on the bench alongside Botha, while they will be joined by the experienced Peter Grant, the fly half joining up with his team mates this week from Japan, and winger Sailosi Tagicakibau, who has been signed from London Irish in England.
Meanwhile, the Crusaders have confirmed that All Blacks captain Richie McCaw, who left the field at half time during last week's defeat to the Blues, will require surgery to a broken thumb, which requires him to have a screw inserted. McCaw will be out of action for up to eight weeks, which would mean him returning against the Brumbies in the 12th round on May the 3rd.
