Force                          Bulls
Friday 29th April 11:05 GMT

The Force who have only managed one win in the 2016 Super Rugby tournament, will face a rested Bulls side at the nib Stadium in Perth on Friday in Round 10 of this season's competition. That solitary success came back in Round 2 whey travelled to Brisbane and defeated the Reds in an Australian derby. Having pushed the Crusaders all the way in Round 8, before the Kiwis claimed the points thanks to their 20-19 victory, the Force might have thought that they had turned the corner, but last weekend, they fell to a 13-49 defeat to the Waratahs, who ran in six tries. The Force have now lost seven of their eight games in this season’s Super Rugby tournament.

The Bulls have enjoyed five wins and a draw from seven fixtures in 2016. They have played two games so far in this campaign against Australian opposition, both at Loftus Versfeld, where they have beaten the Reds 41-22 and the Rebels 45-25. After Friday's fixture, they will continue their tour with matches against the Brumbies and the Waratahs. A win in Perth against the Western Force, who lost both games on home soil against South African opponents in 2015 would end a run of six successive losses on Australian soil for the Bulls.

Western Force has been the surprise package of this season's Super Rugby season, and that they were so disappointed by last weeks defeat away to the Rebels, speaks volumes for the progress that the Australian Franchise has made this season. Despite last weeks defeat, Force is still in fifth place on the overall table, and appearing a solid bet for an end of season play-off spot.

However, they may have ambitions that are higher than a mere wild card place. Western Force might be third in the Australian Conference, but they are just two points behind Conference leaders the Brumbies, and just a single point behind the Waratahs. Victory over the Bulls could see them catapulted to unheard of heights.

The Bulls, while they are second in their own Conference, are a massive 12 points behind leaders the Sharks, and their best bet of extending the season into the post season play offs, seems to lie in securing a wild card place. Though even that appears as if it could be beyond the South African heavyweights. Force will look to improve their performance around the breakdown area and the set scrum in Saturday's match, where Coach Michael Foley felt that they lost the contest and ultimately the match against the Rebels.
