The Reds and the Force clash in a Super Rugby Australian derby at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on Saturday. Both sides will be looking for a first victory of the season, having suffered defeats in the opening round of the tournament last weekend. The Reds found themselves outplayed in Sydney by their old rivals the Waratahs. Trailing 0-20 at half-time, they did put up more of a fight in the second period, eventually going down 10-30. The Reds and Force also met in Round 2 of last season's Super Rugby season, when it atrocious conditions in Brisbane, the home side came through by 18-6. Later in the campaign they completed the double by winning 32-10 in Perth.

Those two wins accounted for half of their successes, in what was a dreadful season for a side that were Super Rugby Champions as recently as 2011. The Force began their season with a 19-25 loss at home to the Rebels, losing the try count by 1-3. They did take a losing bonus point as a consolation. In 2015, the Force finished at the foot of the overall table, winning just three of their 16 matches. All three of those wins came in Australian derbies, two against the Waratahs, and in Melbourne against the Rebels.

The Reds continued their woeful Super Rugby form of 2014 into Round 1 of 2015, when they were thrashed 47-3 by fellow Australians the Brumbies, and on Saturday they have to face another of their Conference rivals, Western Force at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane. In contrast to the performance of the Reds in Round 1, The Force secured a try-scoring bonus point victory in Sydney, against the reigning titleholders, the Waratahs. Richard Graham the Reds coach has made four changes to the side demolished in Canberra last weekend. Two of the changes are to the run on XV, with ex-All Black Adam Thomson coming in on the flank, and Wallaby star James O'Connor starting at fullback, both making their Reds debuts.

The Force are forced into a change at fullback, with Zack Holmes drafted into the starting XV to replace the injured Dane Haylett-Petty. While loosehead prop Francois van Wyk who has made three appearances from the bench, and who scored the vital fourth try against the Waratahs, replacing Pek Cowan who was carried from the field last Sunday. There are two more changes to the replacements bench, with both prop Chris Heiberg and winger Mitchell Scott set to make their Super Rugby debuts if they get onto the field.

The Reds meet the Force in an Australian derby at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on Saturday, with both sides looking for the victory that might just lift them into a wild card play-off position. After a tough tour to South Africa, which wasn't without its controversies, the Reds returned to familiar territory last weekend in Brisbane, and defeated the Stormers 22-17 to get their challenge back on track. The Western Force had a bye last weekend, which gave them an extra week to bathe in the glory of their 18-15 upset win against the defending champions, the Chiefs. The success against the Chiefs was a third successive win for the Force. A run that has seen them rise to third place in the Australian Conference, co, and eighth overall in the table. The Reds are immediately behind Saturday's opponents, in fourth place in the Conference and ninth overall.

The Queensland Reds are struggling with a lengthy injury list, and in particular in the backs. Outside backs Aidan Toua, Dom Shipperley and Chris Feauai-Sautia are all suffering with injuries, as is open side flanker Liam Gill. Those injuries mean a likely debut for Jamie Jerry Taulagi, with Beau Robinson retaining the number seven shirt after an impressive performance against the Stormers.
