Saturday 14th February 15:05 GMT

The Sharks who were the comfortable winners of the South African Conference in Super Rugby 2014, finishing third in the overall table, start the new season with a home game at Kings Park Stadium in Durban, against the team that finished last in the conference in 2014, the Cheetahs. 2015 provided a desperately disappointing finish for the Sharks, who led the overall table for all but one round of the first 16, but slipped up in the final weeks, to end a point adrift of second place Crusaders, and miss out on the vital home advantage for any potential semi-final.

Last season provided few crumbs of comfort for the Cheetahs, who languished at the bottom of the South African Conference, finishing seven points behind the Lions, and registering just four wins in their 16 Super Rugby fixtures. Former England international Mouritz Botha will start for the Sharks, with Gary Gold the Director of Rugby also giving a start to the returning Shark Waylon Murray , although recent signing Jean Deysel has to be content with a place on the bench.
