Clermont Auvergne who lead the Top 14 Orange table at the end of Round 9, and have a five advantage over the two sides immediately behind them, Toulon and Montpellier, should have little trouble in collecting a fourth straight victory in the competition on Saturday. They face Grenoble, who are bottom but one in the table, and who are blighted by off the field financial worries. Clermont Auvergne have lost just once in the Top 14 this season, when they went down to their great rivals Toulon by just 21-23 in Round 6.

They have also shared two 30-30 draws at La Rochelle and Stade Francais . Their home form however, is unblemished. They have played and won all four of their Top 14 fixtures on home soil. Grenoble have managed to register just two wins this season. Both have come at home, against struggling Brive, and against bottom of the table Bayonne. Away from their Alpine home, they have played five times in the domestic tournament, and suffered five heavy defeats. The fewest points that they have conceded in an away fixture this season, being the 31 that Toulouse scored in Round 7. While their closest loss on the road, was by 19 points at Lyon in Round 3, when they were beaten 13-32.

Two of the three teams who won their opening fixture in this seasons Top 14 tournament, and secured a try-scoring bonus point into the bargain, meet on Friday evening at the Parc des Sports Marcel Michelin Stadium, where Clermont Auvergne will welcome their visitors from the Alps, Grenoble. Clermont, who carry the monkey on their back of being the nearly men of both French domestic and European rugby, with any number of finals under their belt  in the last 15 seasons, but just a solitary Top 14 Orange title in 2010 and a Challenge Cup win in 2007, to their credit. Despite being decimated by internationals calls, Clermont did open the new campaign with a stunning victory. They travelled to the Stade Marcel-Deflandre to face one of last season's surprise packages, La Rochelle. However, they made light of what was expected to be a testing trip, running out winners by 44-6.

Grenoble, opened their own campaign at their Stade des Alpes against newly promoted Agen. The visitors provided much stiffer opposition than might have been expected, before the Alpine side pulled away in the second half to secure their 38-23 win. The form from Round 1, suggests that Clermont Auvergne, with home advantage, will probably prevail, though they may not pick up a bonus point.
