Last season's Pro D2 Champions Lyon, face the mighty Toulouse at the Matmut Stadium on Saturday in Round 5 of the French Top 14 Orange tournament. The newly promoted club have made a steady start to the campaign, and are unbeaten in their two home fixtures. Their survival in the top tier may well depend on how many points they can secure on home soil. So far, they have drawn with Brive and beaten Grenoble at the Matmut. However, the visit of Toulouse is likely to present them with a far tougher challenge than they have faced so far.

Toulouse began the new season with successive home victories against Montpellier and Bordeaux-Begles, but have suffered back to back defeats in the last two rounds. Losing in their only away fixture so far at defending Champions racing 92, and last weekend they lost at home to Toulon. Their 50% winning record, sees Toulouse occupy ninth position at the end of Round 4, some six points behind the surprise early season leaders, La Rochelle. Lyon sit in eleventh spot with seven points, just two points above bottom placed Grenoble, who closed the gap on the clubs above them with last weekend's 36-23 home win against Brive.

After a two week break for the first two rounds of the Champions Cup, the Top 14 Orange tournament returns this weekend, for Round 10 of this season's competition. Ninth placed Lyon entertain the side immediately above them in the table, Toulouse on Saturday at the Matmut Stadium, defending a 100% home record, having recorded all their four victories in this season's Top 14 on their own soil. The visitors from Toulouse, arrive in Lyon with a 100% perfect away record in the Top 14 this season, with four losses and just a single bonus point, from their four road trips. However, the giants from the South of France appear to be getting back to something approaching their best form, after a poor start to the campaign that saw them flirting with the bottom two places in the table.

Since losing at Bayonne at the end of September, Toulouse have recorded successive wins in the Top 14 against Stade Francaise, and the current title holders, Toulon. While in the past fortnight, they have won their opening two Champions League fixtures, at home to Montpellier who are fourth in the Top 14, and away against high flying bath from the Aviva Premiership.

This week there are seven French Top 14 Orange games, six of them played on Saturday, September 3rd and one game played in Lyon on Sunday, September 4th. That game is between Lyon and Toulouse and will happen at 21:00 local time. Right now Lyon is in 11th on the Top 14 Orange table, a position likely very temporary as these new matches are played. They lost their first game of the season and earned zero points. Toulouse is in ninth. They also lost their first game, but they were able to earn a single point which ranked them higher.
