Two form clubs go head to head at the Altrad Stadium on Saturday, when Montpellier entertain the top of the table Racing Metro. Montpellier have won four of their last five Top 14 Orange matches, and have risen to fifth position in the table as a result. The single defeat during this run, was a shock 16-19 reverse at home to lowly PAU. In their most recent home fixture, they overcame Castres by 22-19. Racing have lost just one of their last nine matches in the domestic tournament, a 9-13 loss at home to Castres, only the third time they have been beaten in the tournament this season.
Racing continue to lead the field, although Clermont Auvergne are just a single point behind them, Toulon sitting just a further point adrift, although the European Champions have played a game more. If Montpellier are to register a fourth successive win, they will have to overcome the club with the best defensive record in the Top 14 tournament, having conceded only 21 tries in 17 games. After winning five of their first six games, Montpellier suffered a drop in form that saw them then lose three out of the next four games. They appear to be well and truly over that blip, and now look a good bet to claim a post-season play-off place.
