Racing Metro                          Grenoble
Saturday 19th November 16:00 GMT

The reigning Top 14 Champions, Racing Metro, need a victory on Saturday at the Stade Olympique Yves du Manoir Stadium, Colombes, when they face lowly Grenoble. At the end of Round 11, Racing have managed six wins and five defeats, with a total of 26 points to their credit, which places them in seventh position. After an inconsistent start to their defence of the title, Racing looked as if they had turned the corner with three straight victories, before their run of success came to an end last weekend when they were beaten at PAU by 17-26. However, there has been little wrong with their form on home soil, with all five games in front of their own supporters ending in victory.

Grenoble continue to battle on the field to try and make up the gap between themselves and Top 14 Orange safety, despite all the off field distractions caused by the financial issues that once more grip the club. They have secured just two wins this season in the Top 14, both at home against Brive and Bayonne. All six away matches have ended in defeat, although in Round 10 they came perilously close to breaking their duck on the road, when they pushed top of the table Clermont all the way before being squeezed out by 20-21.

Two of the three clubs in the Top 14 Orange tournament, who have opened the new season with two wins and a loss, will face each other at the Stade Olympique Yves du Manoir Stadium on Saturday, when Racing 92 welcome the men from the Alps, Grenoble. Racing Metro began the season in sensational fashion, with a win at Toulon, but their performances of the past two weeks have failed to reach the same levels. In Week 2, they scraped home by just 20-19 against La Rochelle in their only other game at the Stade Olympique this season. Last week however, they lost their 100% winning start, going down by 18-30 at newly promoted Agen, who until then had been winless. It is difficult to gauge Grenoble true form. At the Stades des Alpes, a regular fortress, they have won both fixtures this season. However, both matches were against the promoted clubs, Pau and Agen. While on the road they were put in their place by table topping Clermont Auvergne.

Saturday will provide an interesting contrast in styles, in that Grenoble's problem has been stopping their opponents scoring tries, they have the third worst record in the league, despite lying in third position on the table. Meanwhile, Racing's issue has been scoring them, having scored just six so far, the worst record amongst the top seven clubs.
